As winter quickly approaches, we are all reminded of previous winters when we packed on a few extra pounds. If you are already a little or more than a little overweight, don't put those cute jeans away and dig out your sweatpants quite yet. What you have to do to lose weight can be drastically different from what your sister, co-worker or spouse has to do to slim down. Weight-loss success can be achieved by learning your body shape, and eating (or not eating) specific foods.

Weigh yourself on the scale. Use your measuring tape to measure your waist (right around your belly button) and your hips (the widest part). Record weight and measurements.
2Do an Internet search to find a site that will help you decide what body type you have. You will need your waist and hip measurements, and your weight.
3Further your Internet search depending on your body type results. For example, if you are an endomorph (round or apple-shaped), do another search to find out what foods will help you lose weight.
4Drink plenty of water and exercise regularly to speed up your weight loss, regardless of your specific shape.
