Raw Vegetables Diet

Raw Vegetables Diet

The diet you may know as the raw vegetable diet is actually called the raw food diet. It has been pegged as the raw vegetable diet because of the relatively high consumption of uncooked vegetables. However, raw food dieters also consume fruits, seeds, nuts, sprouts, grains and seaweed. The basis of the raw food diet is that uncooked and unprocessed foods preserve enzymes that cause miraculous health benefits. Food must not reach a temperature higher than 118 degrees Fahrenheit to be considered raw.

Break the Monotony

When consuming only raw foods, it's easy to simply eat a salad every night. However, after consecutive nights of eating salads, your stomach may be begging for excitement. Break up the monotony and make your meals an event. Instead of eating an apple for lunch, treat yourself to a fruit salad made up of raspberries, strawberries, apples and kiwi. For dinner, make yourself veggie spaghetti by placing zucchini through a spiral slicer and adding fresh veggies. If you give your stomach something yummy and exciting, you'll be less likely to cheat on the diet.

Increase your Intake

Typical diets require you to drastically decrease your caloric intake and often go to bed with a growling tummy. However, when consuming an all raw food diet, quite the opposite is necessary. Because vegetables, seeds, nuts, sprouts, grains and fruits generally sport a low calorie counts, you need to increase the size of your meals and snacks to meet your minimum daily caloric needs. This alone makes this diet ideal for people who are binge eaters or have the need to satisfy an oral fixation.

The Benefits

A raw food diet promotes health benefits that others can only find through prescription medication. Raw food dieters believe enzymes in uncooked and unprocessed foods lead to health benefits such as stronger immune system, increased energy, clear skin, weight loss, improved memory, increased libido, cancer prevention and a smoother digestive system.
