Ways to Eat Grapefruits

Grapefruits are unique and delicious fruits that offer a wide range of health benefits including aiding in weight loss and being an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, fiber and potassium. Known for their bitter and tangy taste, grapefruits are usually cut and half and eaten with a spoon, but there are many creative and tasty ways to incorporate the fruit into your diet. Grapefruit Slices

    Slice a peeled grapefruit into wedges as you would an orange and enjoy it as a snack. Add sections of grapefruit to salads and veggies as you would mandarin oranges. Enjoy grapefruit slices in your fruit salad.

Preparing Meals with Grapefruit

    Soak breadcrumbs in freshly squeezed grapefruit juice to make a breading for fish or meats. Stir-fry pork cutlets or seafood with slices of grapefruit to add a citrus flavor to your meats. Like a Hawaiian pizza which includes small slices of pineapple, add small slices of grapefruit to a homemade pizza.

Frozen Grapefruit Treats

    Create homemade ice cream with bits of grapefruit in the mixture. Make grapefruit frozen treats kids can enjoy by slicing a grapefruit into sections, inserting a craft stick into each, then freezing them.

Grapefruit Juices

    Enjoy freshly squeezed grapefruit juice as a morning beverage. Also try substituting grapefruit juice for water when making fruit smoothies or yogurt smoothies.

Grapefruit Desserts

    Mix small slices of grapefruit into your gelatin before it sets for a juicy citrus dessert. Mix grapefruit slices with whipped cream to create a sweet, fruity topping to enjoy over pound cake.

Grapefruit Condiments

    Create grapefruit marmalade to eat on toast or biscuits in the morning. Create a grapefruit salad dressing by mixing tiny grapefruit slices and grapefruit juice with plain yogurt, mustard, dill and finely chopped onions.
