While many people decide to do a detox diet, they are often not receiving enough nutrients to make it beneficial for health or well-being. The Raw Detox Diet is made up of 75 percent raw food, mostly fruits, nuts, grains and vegetables. Eating fruits and vegetables raw are more nutritious than cooked, because most of the vitamins, minerals and enzymes found in the food are removed during cooking processes. Most individuals who try the Raw Detox Diet are vegans, although some dieters will incorporate fish and poultry into the diet.
Breakfast
Create a breakfast of fresh fruit, topped with wheat germ, pumpkin seeds and fresh nuts, preferably almond. Pair the fruit salad with organic milk or coconut cream instead of regular milk. Use a variety of fruits to get plenty of vitamins and nutrition, and eat until you are full. Some examples of fruits to eat include apples, bananas, apricots, peaches or any melons. Throughout the day, it is important to consume at least 64 ounces of water, drink fresh squeezed juices from fruits or vegetables, smoothies with a blend of fruits and coconut milk.
Lunch
For lunch, make a large salad with a blend of leaves trying to stay away from water-filled iceberg lettuce, which has little nutritional value. Top the salad with vegetables like tomatoes, onions, cucumber, celery, bean sprouts and lentils to create a well-rounded meal. Make your own dressing, with an equal blend of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Drink a fruit smoothie for a dessert, or have some fresh squeezed fruit juice to get additional nutrients. You can also add a small amount of whole grains, cooked fish or poultry to the salad to give it some variety.
Dinner
Make a blended vegetable soup containing as many mixed vegetables as you like. Tomatoes, peppers, celery, radishes and carrots make a delicious blend, topped with half of an avocado. For dessert, treat yourself to a fruit salad, blended well with ice to make a sorbet. While this diet may be hard to follow, consuming raw foods has benefits especially with skin and anti-aging due to its high content in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants found in the foods. Due to the low caloric and carbohydrate intake, weight loss will occur but it can be especially challenging for some people.
